September 14, 2020 Meeting Highlights

  • The Town Budget for 2020-2021 was reviewed and approved at the Special Budget Hearing.
  • The proposed Personal Property and Light Tax Rates were read, accepted and approved at the Special Tax Rate Hearing.  The General Tax rate is 0.1949 per $100 of assessed valuation.  The Lights Tax Rate is 0.0973 per $100 of assessed valuation.
  • Public Works:  Powerwashing of Town buildings is complete.  Town & Country sprayed the streets for weeds.  The gutters at the Post Office were repaired.  Motion made to re-approve $5,000 for the Sign Project.  Motion made to re-approve $3,500 for the Town Park erosion project.
  • Farm Report:  Farm bids were presented for the 2020-2023 contract:  Tim Hellebush at $203 per acre and Backhaus Farms at $230 per acre.  Approved the contract for Backhaus Farms at $230 per acre.
  • Historian Report:  Kathryn Frazier presented information on the Historical Preservation Report.
  • Musuem Report:  Kathryn Frazier announced that the new museum website will be linked to the Chamber and the Town websites.
  • Chamber of Commerce:  Plein Air is moved to April of 2021.
  • Cemetery Report:  Approved Phil Estes as the new Cemetery Sexton.
  • Bob Hofer will be speaking with the Town attorney on the Road Funding Maintenance Project.
  • Approved the request by Terry and Jeri Heisler for the Augusta Bottom Beer Fest at the Augusta Ball Field on October 3, 2020 from noon – 5 pm.
